Privet. I have a problem which I hope someone can help me with. In the 1970s Thames Television broadcasted the series "A World at War". Episode 5 contained the German invasion in 1941. In the middle of the episode a scene was shown from the May Day parade in Moscow on May 1, 1941. A song was played then. Has anyone seen this episode and can identify the song for me.

In all likelihood, it was either "Wide-Open is my Native Land" or "Moscow in May". Search for Широка страна моя родная and Москва майская.

Thanks for reply. Unfortunately it is none of them. I have checked. The song is replayed one more time in the programme when showing some people digging tank graves near Moscow. I think it sounds like a chorus singing.

Then it's probably the Song of the Defenders of Moscow". Search for Песня защитников Москвы.

Hello everybody. I have played the part of the film for my Russian teacher and although she was not familiar with the song it is about tanks. The song is played twice in the film, first when showing the May Day parade in 1941 and second in autumn 1941 when people are digging tank graves outside Moscow so it makes sense that it is about tanks. A Russian friend suggested that it could be "March of the Soviet tankists". Unfortunately it is not that one either. It is a chorus who sings it.

If you actually have the film, what's the problem? Simply cut the part with the song and play it to us, and then it's a done deal. By the way, why is it so important to you? Did you like the song?

Там практически нет песни. Идет текст на английском и изредка показывают первомайский парад (почему-то все бойцы в ушанках) с текстом, который я почти что полностью привел. Впрочем, если надо, я выложу avi у себя на сайте. А записать кусок у меня нет навыка.

Точно эту песню я тоже ищу уже несколько лет . В первое я ее слышал приблизительно 7,8 лет тому назад в одном док. фильме. Потом забыл ее. И сегодя припомнили вы меня эту "загадочную" песню!

Да, действительно, пока опознать не удаётся. Песня, несмотря на то, что слышна она фрагментарно, довольно оригинальная, не совсем шаблонная. Надо потихоньку выписать хоть какие-то слова и далее искать по песенникам.

В принципе, композитором может быть кто угодно, начиная от тех же братьев Покрасс и заканчивая Александровым, как мне кажется, именно напоминает его стиль.
В довоенных песенникам за 1941 год, которыми я располагаю, подобной песни нет.
А ведь можно раздобыть видеозапись этого парада без комментариев на английском? Насколько я понимаю, именно тогда песня и высветится целиком.
